Apollo Quotes

  • “The excitement really didn't start to build until the trailer - which was carrying me, with a space suit with ventilation and all that sort of stuff - pulled up to the launch pad.”
    by Alan Shepard
  • “We wanted to be in great shape, we wanted to be able to cope with zero gravity, we wanted to be able to cope with accelerations and decelerations and so on. So all of us trained so that we were probably in the best physical condition we had ever been in up until that point.”

Global HF Radio Event

Apollo Historic Sites HF Event – 18th & 19th July 2009: Apollo Historic Sites HF Event – 18th & 19th July 2009: A number of historic sites in Australia and other countries will take part in this Echoes of Apollo event. HF radio stations will be set up near sites that took part in the original support for the Apollo 11 mission. In Australia most of these will have special call signs similar to those used by NASA in the original missions. Many of these sites will be staffed by people that took part in the original Apollo 11 mission as communications specialists. They are from the OTVA, one of our Australian Patrons for Echoes of Apollo.

This event celebrates the contributions made by thousands of people around the world to make the Apollo 11 landing and all Apollo missions the success that the world witnessed. More details on this special events in the near future. Please remember that these events are being supported by amateur radio enthusiasts that are not receiving any contribution from the EOA project, but are joining in with the celebrations.
