  • “Yeah, I wasn't chosen to be first. I was just chosen to command that flight. Circumstance put me in that particular role. That wasn't planned by anyone.”

Steve Eves’ Saturn V Launch

It would be great to had had this as an Echoes of Apollo event, but we saw this on the web and had to report it straight away. The massive Saturn V rockets did carry the Apollo missions into orbit.

Last Saturday, Steve Eves entered the record books with the launch of the largest model rocket ever: a 1:10 scale model of a Saturn V.

The rocket is about 11 metres (36ft) high and was a 1 : 10 scale model. It naturally did not have the weight and thus was pretty fast off the launch pad. It weighed 725kg (1,600 pounds) and used 8 “N” Motors and central “P” motor. It was expected to reach around 1,000m (3,000 to 4,000 ft).

Watch for the slow motion replay in the second half of the video.
