Apollo Quotes

  • “Whether you are an astronomer or a life scientist, geophysicist, or a pilot, you've got to be there because you believe you are good in your field, and you can contribute, not because you are going to get a lot of fame or whatever when you get back.”
    by Alan Shepard
  • “The first plane ride was in a homemade glider my buddy and I built. Unfortunately we didn't get more than four feet off the ground, because it crashed.”

ISS_STS128Debris Photographed Leaving Discovery Not Part of Thermal Protection

Discovery Astronauts  photographed a piece of debris leaving the shuttle at a fair pace. The debris was seen floating away from the shuttle during the thermal protection inspections.  The photographs were downloaded to mission control. NASA say that they cannot define the object, but confirm that it is not part of the thermal protection system.

Although investigations are continuing the shuttle landing is expected to take place on schedule at the Kennedy Space Center, weather permitting.
