NASA’s Ares 1-X Launch Meets Expectations!
Comments from NASA following the Ares 1-X launch indictaed that the only impediment that they faces was waiting for clear weather. Early indications are that the rocket performed as expected and reached a height of 21.9 miles beofre engine burnout. The upper stage separated as planned and the first stage and the upper “dummy” stage (a mass simulator) came down in the ocean off Florida. The first stage deployed it parachutes for breaking and will be recovered and analysed.
