Overseas Telecommunications Veterans Association
The well known Overseas Telecommunications Veterans Association (OTVA) is the first of all our Patrons in the EOA Party. Specifically they are Australian Patrons of the EOA. Many of its members where involved directly in Apollo 11 support back in 1969. It also has a large number of amateur radio operators who will be participating in the Echoes Of Apollo amateur events. These include the EOA World EME Day on the 27th June and the HF radio EOA Historic Sites event on the weekend of the 18th & 19th July.
The Photos on the right were taken at the historic committee meeting where the OTVA agreed to support and promote the Echoes of Apollo event in as many ways as possible. They have committed to assisting with material for the website, assistance in raising sponsorship, interviews with the many staff members that were involved in the Apollo missions, amateur radio operators to participate in the amateur events, logistics and much more.
The OTVA members mainly come from the work that they did with the Overseas Telecommunications Corporation / Commission and are well respected in the ICT community. Many have risen to the ranks of senior management within the ICT sector.
OTC was responsible for the NASA equipment situated at the Paddington terminal in Sydney and the Moree Earth Station that relayed the data to the USA and distributed the Audio and Video from the moon to the rest of the world and to Western Australia via the Intelsat satellite.
