Recently I responded to comments from a SpaceAmerica story titled: Opinion: What Should NASA Do? They wrote: Admit the truth about the moon, admit there’s more planets out there than they say there is [sic], and certainly admit that previous astronauts have seen other worldly beings.. plus reveal the true pictures of the moon and mars.. This is opinion is certainly the other side of the coin to what I know so I took on the challenge of responding. It is not likely to be believed, but none the less, it deserved a rational response: "I'm not sure if you are being serious, but let me offer the following for those that think it is a conspiracy: [...]

The star cluster NGC 6604 is shown in this new image taken by the Wide Field Imager attached to the MPG/ESO 2.2-meter telescope at the La Silla Observatory in Chile. It is often overlooked in favor of its more prominent neighbor, the Eagle Nebula (also known as Messier 16), that lies a mere wingspan away. But the framing of this picture, which places the star cluster in a landscape of surrounding gas and dust clouds, shows what a beautiful object NGC 6604 is in its own right. [...]

Last month, when the sun unleashed the most intense radiation storm since 2003, peppering satellites with charged particles and igniting strong auroras around both poles, a group of high school students in Bishop, California, knew just what to do. They launched a rubber chicken. The students inflated a helium balloon and used it to send the fowl, named “Camilla,” to an altitude of 120,000 ft where she was exposed to high-energy solar protons at point blank range. The space agency said its spacecraft shows new images and data of the diversity of Vesta’s surface, revealing unusual geological features. Vesta is one of the brightest objects in the solar system and sits in the main belt between Mars and Jupiter, visible to the naked eye from Earth. Dawn has found that some areas on the asteroid can be nearly twice as bright as others, which gives scientists clues about the asteroid’s history. [...]

Three videos. On 29 November 1967, Australia became only the fourth country – after the USA, Soviet Union and France – to launch its own satellite from its own territory. The battery-powered WRESAT weighed about 45 kilograms and was designed in the form of a cone. Three cones (two test and one actual) were constructed in the development phase, and a range of tests were carried out to ensure the satellite’s durability. As well as the durability tests, the final experiment shown in this clip tests the ejection of the protective plate covering the instrumentation during flight. In the early days of rocket and satellite work, countless experiments were lost due to the failure of covers to eject. [...]
